Home learning activities for pupils aged 7-11

Since the 1970s, scientists have started to understand much more about how carbon emissions affect our planet and its climate. Extreme weather events such as heat waves, floods, and hurricanes are becoming more common and having devastating effects on communities around the world.

The latest warning from the world’s leading climate scientists suggests that we have only 12 years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5 °C. 

Learning objectives: To increase awareness of the effects of climate change including a rise in sea levels.  

Curriculum Links: Science, English and Citizenship. 

Materials: You will need safe access to the internet, paper, pens, a glass bottle, a straw, ruler, food colouring if you have it, a large container and a marker pen.
