Wherever your school is based you can benefit from Connecting Classrooms through our free online courses, resources and tools.

Take an online training course

Teachers around the world can sign up for one of our free online core skills courses designed to help teach and lead on the ‘core skills’ — the six skills that research shows are essential for preparing young people to live and work in today’s globalised economy:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Collaboration and communication
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Citizenship
  • Digital literacy
  • Student leadership and personal development

Work at your own pace while you explore these skills and consider practical ways to integrate them into your school.

You may also like to sign up for one of our free online international collaboration courses to explore global themes such as citizenship and intercultural practice, and find out how they relate to the core skills.

You can also download our free, ready-to-go resources to help you deliver lessons and classroom projects based on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development — the 17 goals agreed by member states of the United Nations to achieve a better world by 2030.

Find an overseas partner school

Wherever your school is based, you can use our new Partner Finder tool to search for an international partner.  It's quick and easy to register as a user.  Once your registration is processed, you'll be able to:

  • add your school to the Partner Finder database
  • search for partner schools
  • make partnership requests
  • exchange initial messages with potential partners.

Please note we will be continually improving the tool over the next few months, so you may notice some changes over time time.  If you need further support, our user guide below will take you through each step. As our first users of the tool, you can also contact us at schools@britishcouncil.org if you have any feedback or experience any problems.

Schools in Africa, the Middle East and South Asia that choose to partner with a school in the UK may be eligible for a grant to support global learning across the partnership.  Find out more.
